ATHENS, Ga. – The Northern Kentucky baseball program proved it could play with anyone in the country as the Norse once again put a scare into one of the top teams in the nation in Georgia at Foley Field on Sunday.
For the second straight game, the Bulldogs were able to escape with walk-off win, this time by a 12-11 margin as NKU almost stole another one from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) power.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Northern Kentucky – 11, Georgia – 12 (9 innings)

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- It was a four-headed monster for the Norse in this one as four student-athletes combined for the offensive outburst.

Mitch Wood (3-for-5, one home run, three RBI and a run scored),
Jake Paulick (3-for-4, three RBI),
Liam McFadden-Ackman (1-for-3, one homer, three RBI, two runs scored and two walks), and
Zacarias Salinas (1-for-1, one home run, two RBI and a run scored) combined to lead the NKU attack.
- To go with them,
Tyler Shaneyfelt (two runs),
Cleary Simpson (two runs),
Logen Devenport (two runs, one stolen base), and
Ryan Kilpatrick (one run) all came around to score for the Norse.
- On the mound,
Ryan Pehrson went 2.1 scoreless innings of relief to go with two strikeouts.
- The 11-run outburst was the most allowed by the Bulldogs in a game so far this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Norse jumped out ahead early in this one as Wood sent a two-run shot over the center field wall to make it a 2-0 game in the top of the second.
- Georgia answered right back with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning to tie things at 2-2.
- McFadden-Ackman continues to swing a hot bat as he blasted a two-run homer in the top of the third to push NKU ahead again, 4-2.
- The Bulldogs went for seven runs in the bottom half of the fifth to take its first lead of the game at 9-5.
- Northern Kentucky answered right back in the top of the sixth as they pushed three runs across to only trail by one, 9-8.
- Georgia once again responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 11-8 contest.
- That is when Northern Kentucky made its move with two runs in the top of the eighth and another in the ninth to tie things up at 11-11.
- The Bulldogs were able to load the bases in the bottom of the ninth and a hit by pitch allowed Georgia to escape with the 12-11 victory.

The Norse return to Highland Heights for the home opener against Morehead State on Tuesday, February 27 at 2 PM ET at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex. Admission to the in-state clash is free of charge.
