HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky baseball program cannot be stopped at the moment as the Norse collected their 11th victory in a row with a 9-1 win over Horizon League foe Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon.
The 11 wins is already a NKU NCAA Division I record, and the mark is now the second longest active winning streak in all of NCAA DI baseball. To go with the overall run, the Norse are also tied for 12
th in the nation in active home winning streak with 10 consecutive dubs in Highland Heights.

Ben Gerl threw an absolute gem on the mound as he spun a quality start with seven innings of standout work. The senior hurler posted eight strikeouts to go with just six hits and a single earned run allowed. With the showing, he improved to a perfect 3-0 on the season.

Cleary Simpson and
Mitch Wood led the offensive charge for the Norse. Simpson went 2-for-5 at the dish with two RBI while Wood added a 2-for-3 outing with two RBI of his own.

Logen Devenport (1-for-4) and
Tyler Shaneyfelt (one walk) made up the rest of the NKU attack with a RBI apiece, respectively. Devenport also came around to score for NKU in the contest.

Jake Paulick (2-for-4, two runs scored, a base on balls),
Brennan Rowe (2-for-4, two runs, one walk) and
Liam McFadden-Ackman (1-for-3, two runs scored and two bases on balls) also had big afternoons.

Nick McClanahan and
Aaron Massie both recorded a scoreless frame in relief to close out the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Norse got on the board first once again with two runs in the bottom half of the third to make it a 2-0 ballgame. Wood and Devenport both laced RBI doubles to give NKU the early advantage.
- Northern Kentucky added another one in the bottom of the fourth as Simpson dropped down a perfect bunt that scored Rowe to push the edge to 3-0.
- Milwaukee got on the board with a single run in the top of the sixth but NKU responded right back with six runs in the bottom half of the inning to push its advantage to 9-1.
- Neither side got another run across the plate over the final two and a half innings as the Norse closed out the conference win.

The Norse hit the road for an in-state battle with Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday, March 26. First pitch is set for 4 PM ET from Earle Combs Stadium and the non-conference clash will
be played in front of a national audience on ESPN+.
