HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's basketball head coach
Darrin Horn added yet another standout student-athlete to the perimeter as the Norse officially announced the signing of shooting guard Josh Dilling to the program on Wednesday.
Dilling is coming off a year in which he averaged 19.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game as a junior at Northern State University, en route to a Second Team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference selection. The 6-for-4, 190-pound guard started all 29 games for NSU and shot a team-leading 52.3 percent from the floor and 46.1 percent from the three-point line. He finished the year ranked second in the Northern Sun in assists, third in minutes played, fourth in field goal percentage and fifth in assist to turnover ratio.
On the national level, Dilling was all over the national leaderboard as he finished the year sixth in all of NCAA DII basketball in three-point percentage, 50
th in points per game and just outside the top-50 in three-pointers per game, total three-pointers and assists, amongst other statistical categories.
The Oshkosh, Wisconsin native also excelled off the court as he was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and honored on the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.
"Josh is a terrific fit for us on the perimeter," Horn said. "His efficiency in pick-and-roll is outstanding, which is essential in our up-tempo flow style of play. In addition, his 71 made three-pointers at 46 percent addresses our need for shot making on the perimeter."
"He has also been a leader of great character everywhere he has been," Horn added. "Norse Nation will love him!"
Over his two years with the Wolves program, Dilling posted 859 points (14.3 points per game), 234 rebounds (3.9 per contest), 220 assists (3.7 per game) and 39 swipes. He recorded a career average of 49.4 percent from the field, 43.2 percent from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent from the charity stripe. He was also a two-time All-Conference selection to go with being an All-Area Honorable Mention.
Dilling also had stops at Queens University and Minnesota Crookston. While at Queens, his team won the conference championship and advanced all the way to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II Tournament. Dilling started his collegiate career at Minnesota Crookston, where he averaged 14.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in his freshman season.
Overall, Dilling has posted 1,281 points over his four-year career. He will have one final year of eligibility remaining with the Norse.
Dilling joins fellow signees Dan Gherezgher (Guard, Michigan Tech) and Paulius Rapolis (Center, IMG Academy) for the 2024-25 campaign.
