Men's Tri wraps up first-ever competition at Zoom Redhawk Triathlon

OXFORD, Ohio -- The Northern Kentucky men's triathlon team competed in the program's first-ever triathlon race this past weekend at the Zoom RedHawk Sprint Triathlon at Hueston Woods State Park outside Oxford, Ohio.  Competing in the inaugural event for the men's team was senior Will Griffith, who finished 13th in the MidEast Collegiate Triathlon Conference (MECTC) in the sprint distance that was raced as 750m lake swim, 14 mile bike, and 5k trail run.  

"This was a great first event for our program, and I was excited to see Will compete and finish his first triathlon," stated Brooks Doughtie, the head coach of NKU's men's and women's triathlon squads. "It was a good start for our program and we look forward to racing the conference championships at Purdue at the end of September."

HOW IT HAPPENED
Will Griffith completed the sprint distance in 1:29:02.  Griffith was second out of the water, completing the 750m lake swim in 10:48, T1 in 1:46, 14mi bike in 54:06, T2 in :31, and the 5k trail run in 21:50.

The Norse men next compete at the MECTC Conference Championships at the Boilerman Olympic Triathlon in Monticello, Indiana on Sunday September 29th at 10:00AM.
