DEWITT, Ill. -- The Northern Kentucky women's triathlon team competed at the Millikin Splash & Dash on Friday afternoon and came away with the first podium finish in program history, finishing in second place. The splash and dash race consisted of an 400yd swim and a 1 mile run at Clinton Lake State Park. All 3 athletes finished inside of the top 10, led by Josie Timmers finishing in 4th place, Sophie McEwen in 6th place, and Kelly Villanueva in 9th place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Josie Timmers led the Norse women with a 4th place overall finish, completing the 400m swim in 8:10, the 1 mile run in 9:45 for an overall time of 17:55. Finishing in 6th place for the Norse was Sophie McEwen completing the 400m swim in 8:49, and the 1 mile run in 9:16 for an overall time of 18:05. Completing the trio of Norse athletes with a top 10 placement was Kelly Villanueva who completed the 400m swim in 8:33, and the 1 mile run in 12:23 for an overall finishing time of 20:56 and 9th place.

The Norse women finish this Clinton Lake road trip with the Prairie State Collegiate Cup Triathlon on September 21st at 12:30PM at Clinton Lake State Park. Race distances are 750m lake swim, 20km 4 lap bike course, and a 5km 2 lap run course.
