Tempe, AZ- The Norse women's triathlon team is set to compete at the Women's National Championship on Saturday at 2:45pm EST in Tempe, Arizona. Racing in the B wave will be senior
Alisha Detmer and freshman
Maddux Bigam. The women's national championship race will include a 750m lake swim, 20km bike and 5km run.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
The Norse qualified two individuals from the East Regional Championship that was raced in Troutman, NC on Oct 25th. Those two strong performances allowed both Detmer and Bigam to qualify within the top 150 in the country for the women's national championship. Detmer looks to conclude a strong two-year career for the Norse as the senior has had two 2nd place finishes this year in the regular season. Detmer won the C wave at the 2024 women's national championship and looks to finish inside the top 100 in the nation to wrap up her Norse career. In addition to her strong performances in races, Detmer was a 2024 Academic All-American (HM) and looks to duplicate that with a strong academic performance by the end of fall semester term. Bigam has steadily improved throughout the year in her 1st year in the program and looks to capitalize on a PR East Regional Championship performance in NC two weeks ago. This will be a great experience for the freshman to build on for her remaining years with the Norse.
