Norse Qualify for Women's Triathlon National Championship

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- After a strong East regional performance in Troutman on October 25th, the Northern Kentucky University Norse women's triathlon team qualified to compete at the Women's Triathlon National Championship in Tempe, Ariz. on November 8th. Competing for the Norse will be senior Alisha Detmer and freshman Maddux Bigam in the B wave of the national championship. The women's national championship will consist of a one-lap 750m lake swim, a three-lap 20km bike course, and a two-lap 5km run near the campus of Arizona State University.

Strong performances at the East regional race propelled both Detmer and Bigam into the B wave of the national championship coming in with an overall ranking of 118th for Detmer and 133rd for Bigam.  The women's national championship B wave race will start at 3:45pm EST (12:45 local time).

Coach Doughtie asked about the accomplishments- "I thought the student athletes really locked in for the regionals and made a big jump in competitiveness.  Excited for Detmer to finish off her senior year and all that she has accomplished for the Norse, and this is going to be a great experience for Bigam to race with the best competition to propel her forward with her career with the Norse."
