INDIANAPOLIS - The Northern Kentucky women's triathlon program completed the first true triathlon event in school history as the Norse placed third overall at the Greyhound Endurance Festival on the campus of the University of Indianapolis on Saturday morning. The event was truly unique as it featured a super sprint triathlon that consists of a 350-yard swim, 10K bike run and a 2K run.
The day was a battle between three newcomers to the sport. Northern Kentucky, in its inaugural season, UIndy, also in its first campaign, and Drury, which joined the NCAA ranks in 2018.
"Today was a historic day as the team finished their first complete swim-bike-run triathlon event, which is really exciting," head coach Brooks Doughtie said. "We have a lot of growth opportunities ahead of us, and I am looking forward to ways to improve their training over the next few weeks."
