TROUTMAN, N.C. - The women's Norse triathlon team tackled the very tough East regional competition and course at the Lake Norman venue. The team finished all four triathletes, which allowed the Norse to finish 12th overall as a team. National invitations will be announced in the coming days, so now the Norse wait to determine if they earned a spot for the National Championship on November 8th in Tempe, AZ.
Coach Doughtie summarized the performance, "I was really proud of the team today for their determination and never quitting. This was not an easy course or conditions, as we saw with 25 athletes being lapped out. The last few weeks I really stressed the importance of just keep working at it, go hard for 1 more pedal stroke or swim stroke and see how it goes. I thought their grit and fight really showed up today and the student athletes deserve all the credit for all their hard work they put in after Prairie State to be ready for today!"
