HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- The Northern Kentucky men's triathlon team is set to wrap up its inaugural season this week, as the Norse will compete at the USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Miami, FL on Saturday, March 29th.
The Olympic distance triathlon will include an 1500m lake swim, 40km bike including riding on the famous NASCAR track, and 10km run. The race will start at 7:15 AM EST.
Coming off a strong race at the Ohio State indoor sprint triathlon that included two top 10 performances in early February, the men racing for the Norse will be
Will Griffith,
Frederik Smal, and
Johannes Smal.
Asked about how he sees the race unfolding, Head Coach Brooks Doughtie welcomed the challenge, saying: "I'm excited to travel down to Florida on a national stage and give these guys the opportunity to race and represent Northern Kentucky University. This is going to be such a fun and electric environment include racing on the famous NASCAR track, and I think they can go out there and compete and really push themselves."
