HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — After stellar seasons, Zack Beard and Luke Muller of Northern Kentucky men's golf have been named Second Team All-Horizon League, with Muller winning the Sportsmanship Award, announced by the league on Thursday.
Zack Beard built upon a fantastic Fall season this Spring on his way to his first selection to an All-League team. Beard finished T-19 at the Horizon League Championships, and sat as high as second on the individual leaderboard during the event. He picked up a win in match play after shooting one under par during a match against Bowling Green.
Beard posted a 74.5 scoring average across 27 rounds during the season, and posted three Top 10 finishes during the Fall. Beard finished third after a -4 showing at the Cleveland State Invitational in September, a fourth place finish at even par at Oakland's Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate, and a -5 sixth place finish at Marshall's Joe Feaganes Invitational to open the season. He was a member of the NKU A Team at The Jewell, which finished in second place.
Luke Muller finished the season with four Top 10s, putting together a fantastic senior season for the Norse. Muller finished 34th at the Horizon League Championships. He was named Horizon League Golfer of the Week earlier this season after a -5, T-7 finish at EKU's Mesquite Desert Classic.
Muller posted a 74.2 scoring average in 27 rounds this season. He placed in the Top 10 in three straight events, beginning with a -1, T-7 at Murray State's The Buddy in October. He finished T-7 at the Xavier Invitational to close the Fall, moving up 20 spots on the leaderboard in the final round with a 68, his lowest round of the season. He opened the Spring with the aforementioned T-7 finish at EKU's Mesquite Desert Classic in February for a third straight Top 10.
In addition to his Second Team All-Horizon League selection, Muller was honored with the Sportsmanship Award by the league for his exemplary acts of sportsmanship on the course.
