HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky men's golf has added a Kentucky native to its roster ahead of the 2025-26 season, as NKU Hall of Famer and head coach David Shearer announced the signing of Michael Long on Wednesday.
Long, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, comes to Highland Heights after two seasons at Austin Peay. This past season, Long played in 10 tournaments for the Governors, posting a scoring average of 76.9. The season prior, Long posted a 76.2 scoring average across 11 rounds.
Long's low round of 70 came at the Xavier Invitational this past Fall. He shot even par or lower three times last season in 18 rounds.
Long played amateur golf at Trinity High School in Louisville, where he earned three All-Region selections as well as Region 6 Golfer of the Year honors in 2020. In that 2020 season, Long aided the Shamrocks to their first Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Championship in 17 years. He owns the course record at Nevel Meade Golf Course in Oldham County, Kentucky, where he fired an 11-under par 61.
