OXFORD, Ohio -- The men's triathlon team opened their fall campaign at the Zoom RedHawk Sprint Triathlon near the campus of Miami (OH). Norse raced 5 triathletes racing the sprint distance consisting of a 750m lake swim, 14mi bike and 5k run. The team finished in a program record 2
nd place, while placing 3 in the top 6 (Martin 2nd, Smyth 4th, Marion 6th). Coach Doughtie described the day as a "Great opportunity to learn from our performances today. I think there are a lot of positives to take from today, and if we can clean up a little bit of the mental and transition mistakes, I think we can really put ourselves in a great position for the MECTC conference championship in 2 weeks."

Notables
-2nd place team finish was the 1
st team podium finish in the men's young program history.
-3 Norse finished inside the top 6 for the 1
st time in program history as well, with 1
st podium finish led by Tobias Martin.
-Tobias Martin led the Norse with a strong 2
nd place with a 11:23 750m swim split, 38:52 14mi bike, and 5k run of 19:11 for an overall time of 1:10:43.
-Sean Smyth finished just off the podium for 4
th place with a 13:07 swim split, 39:21 bike, and a 18:23 run split for an overall time of 1:14:20.
-Max Marion finished 3
rd for the Norse and 6
th overall place with a 12:31 swim split, 45:19 bike, and a 18:22 run for an overall time of 1:18:29.
-Joey Klosterman rounded out the 4
th Norse scoring spot with 15th overall place with a 24:40 swim split, 46:59 bike, and a 32:41 run for an overall time of 1:46:47.
-Jude Woodruff finished 5
th for the Norse and 20th overall with a 15:23 swim, 1:33:33 bike split (biked 2 laps), and fastest run of the entire day in 17:29 for an overall time of 2:10:10.
