Seniors shine in home victory over Wright State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's basketball looked to bounce back from a blowout home loss to Youngstown State on Thursday night with a Saturday afternoon matchup against Wright State. The Norse took a double-digit second half lead over the Raiders and survived a late scare to improve to 11-7 in Horizon League play.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- The Norse shot 41.9% from the field, 6-26 from behind the arc, and 83.3% from the free throw line on 12 attempts. Ten of those attempts came in the fourth quarter, as the two squads combined for just nine free throw attempts through the first half hour. As for the Raiders, they shot 39.1% from the field and 35% from three, shooting 5-7 from the charity stripe. 
- Northern Kentucky forced 17 Raider turnovers while recording 14, scoring 15 points off Wright State turnovers. 
 The Norse lost the rebound battle 40-36, as WSU grabbed 12 offensive boards to NKU's nine. However, the sides combined for just 13 total second-chance points, with the Raiders scoring nine on the afternoon.
- On her Senior Day, it was Abby Wolterman who led the Norse with 19 points and ten rebounds, marking a new career high in the former category. Wolterman finished 8-14 from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line. 
- Mya Meredith dropped 15 points on 4-10 shooting and 6-6 shooting from the line, while grabbing three rebounds and recording three steals. 
- Taysha Rushton, who was also recognized by the Norse in the senior ceremony, scored ten points and dished out three assists. 
- Jamaya Thomas had a very productive game off the bench, scoring eight points and grabbing eight rebounds in just 12 minutes of action.
