Makaree Chapman tabbed #HLSB Pitcher of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse softball freshman Makaree Chapman was named the Horizon League's Pitcher of the Week on Monday, marking her second weekly honor of the season. The Lexington, Ohio native was also named Pitcher of the Week following the first week of the 2026 campaign.

"Makaree was prepared for whatever the team needed this past weekend," said Norse head coach Morgan Gerak. "We take pride in being a pitching staff, and Makaree filled multiple roles to help secure the series sweep. She was poised and prepared for the opportunity. She was tough in big moments for our team and we are so proud!"

Chapman was phenomenal as she guided the Norse to a sweep of Detroit Mercy and a 4-1 overall record on the week, as she pitched 13.2 innings over four appearances, finishing with a 1-0 record and a save. The lefty wrapped up the week with a complete game where she allowed just one unearned run, the only run scored against her on the week as she finished with a 0.00 ERA. Chapman struck out eight batters overall, including four in two innings in a game two appearance against the Titans. She earned a save in the first game of the series, throwing a pair of scoreless innings.

Chapman and the Norse wrap up the 2026 regular season this weekend in Indianapolis, taking on IU Indy for a three-game set this Friday & Saturday.
