Northern Kentucky Women’s Hoops tabs Bosnian guard Mackic

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's basketball announced the signing of Bosnian guard Ema Mackic on Monday. 

"Ema is a crafty scorer who finds ways to put the ball in the basket from all areas of the floor," said Norse head coach Jeff Hans. "Her high-energy presence brings a spark to our team, and she consistently makes plays that can shift momentum in our favor. Her experience competing with the Bosnian National Team adds another layer of toughness and maturity to her game."

Mackic, a native of Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, most recently played for ZKK Celick BH Telekom, a club based in Mackic's hometown and competing in the first tier of the Bosnian league. In 24 games this season, Mackic has averaged 25.5 minutes per game, 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals. Mackic has shot 51.7% from the field and 29.2% from distance, the latter mark coming on 4.7 three-point attempts per game. She's scored in double digits in 10 of her 24 contests, including an 18-point effort, marking her season-high. 

Mackic has also recently represented her nation on the U18 level, competing for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the FIBA U18 EuroBasket in both 2024 & 2025. In last summer's tournament, Mackic averaged 7.9 points, 4.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game over seven contests, including a 15-point effort against Ukraine. Mackic was more limited in her U18 run in 2024, playing 14.7 minutes per game and averaging 3.9 points in seven games.
