NKU Women’s Basketball announces 2026-27 non-conference schedule

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Now one step closer to the upcoming 2026-27 season, Northern Kentucky University Norse women's basketball revealed its non-conference schedule on Thursday. The Norse have 12 games set from November 2nd to December 22nd, featuring five home contests at Truist Arena and four away contests at power conference opponents. 

Northern Kentucky unofficially opens the season on Thursday, October 29, with an exhibition at Truist Arena against Midway. The season tips off on Monday, November 2nd, with the Norse taking on Defiance College at home. 

The Norse hit the road on Thursday, November 5 to take on Kentucky at Historic Memorial Coliseum in Lexington. The Norse last took on the Wildcats in the 2024-25 campaign. The Wildcats were a five-seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.

Then, Northern Kentucky returns home for a pair of home games, first on Saturday, November 7 against Kent State, and then on Thursday, November 12 vs. Chattanooga. The Norse hit the road for an in-state battle on Tuesday, November 17, taking on Eastern Kentucky. 

Northern Kentucky then has its longest road trip of the year, flying down to Waco, Texas, to take on the Baylor Bears on November 22, marking NKU's second opponent who qualified for the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Just before Thanksgiving, the Norse will take on long-time rival Southern Indiana at home on November 25th. It marks the third-straight season the Norse and Screaming Eagles face off, and will mark the 60th all-time matchup between the former GLVC foes. The Norse got the upper hand in last year's matchup, winning 77-71 in overtime. 

After Thanksgiving, the Norse will take on Murray State on Saturday, November 28 in Murray, marking the first time the two teams have squared off since the 2017-18 season. After that, the Norse will head to another opponent they haven't seen in nine years, as the Norse will head to Bloomington for a matchup with the Indiana Hoosiers on December 8th or 9th (Date TBA).

The Norse head down to Morehead for another in-state battle on December 13, taking on Morehead State for the first time since 1995. Then, NKU will wrap up the away portion of its non-conference schedule with a battle with the Louisville Cardinals at the KFC Yum! Center, marking NKU & Louisville's fifth matchup since 2018. NKU completes its non-conference slate with a Tuesday, December 22nd game against Marshall, marking the the fourth-straight year the Norse and Thundering Herd will face off.
