Norse open home season with 8-0 win over Mount St. Joseph

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's soccer took on Mount St. Joseph on Thursday night, looking to improve on a 1-0 start to the season after defeating Austin Peay last week. The Norse took care of business at home, taking down the Lions by a score of 8-0.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– NKU scored five first-half goals, as Caitlin Evans got things started in the fifth minute with a rocket from outside the box. In the 17th, great buildup from Megan Molner & Erykah Cornett set up a goal for Kylie Anderson, who made it 2-0 with her first goal since returning from a season-ending injury in the 2025 campaign. Molner then notched her fourth of the season on a breakaway, and Cornett made it 4-0 Norse inside 30 minutes with her first goal of the season. Natalie Newman added to the scoring before the halftime break as the Norse went up 5-0. Newman, Riley Evans, and Gabi Folino all added second-half goals as NKU earned an 8-0 victory. 
– NKU won the shot battle 32-2, and the shot on goal battle 14-1. NKU got seven corner kicks in the match to MSJ's two. 
Riley Evans, Gabi Folino, and Natalie Newman all led the Norse with four points in the match. Emma Gianino, Zellie Barnes, Ayla Conn, Camryn Koski, and Reagan Crisafi all recorded assists in the game. 

NORSE NOTES
– Northern Kentucky's eight goals marked the most in the program's NCAA Division I era, and the most since the Norse scored nine in a win over Kentucky Wesleyan on September 9, 2011. 
– NKU's 32 shot attempts were the most in a match since the Norse recorded 36 in a loss to Cleveland State on October 17, 2015.
