CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. –
Sydney Power picked up her third singles win of the season, one of two singles victories for the Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team in a 5-2 loss to Dayton on Saturday night.
Power took a win over Carly Peck, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (13-11), in the No. 3 singles flight to move to 3-3 on the season and 2-1 in the No. 3 flight. That win, combined with
Sierra Nellessen's 7-5, 6-4 win over Sammi Hornbarger at No. 6, accounted for NKU's scoring in the team event.
In addition,
Danielle Donahue and
Hailey Shanahan picked up their third doubles victory of the year, winning in the top doubles flight over Maryls Bridgham and Mandy Marchant, 6-3. The Flyers took the other two doubles matches to claim the point.
With the loss, NKU falls to 1-3 on the season, while Dayton improves to 4-2 overall. NKU returns to action next Saturday, on the road against IPFW for the first of six consecutive matches away from home.
