NEW YORK – The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team closed out its weekend in the Big Apple in dominant fashion, dropping but a single game in dispatching St. Francis, 5-0.
Each of the three doubles teams for the Norse (4-6) scored 6-0 victories over their opposition.
Nicole Soutar and
Sydney Power ran their doubles record to 4-2 on the year, while
Hailey Shanahan and Rheanna Moreheart won their first match together in the top flight.
Sierra Nellessen and
Yasmine Xantos paired up for the final win.
Power, Morehart and Soutar each claimed 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles matches.
Hailey Shanahan closed out the Norse success with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jennifer Gonzalez. For Morehart and Power, they each picked up their fifth singles win to join
Danielle Donahue in leading the team.
The win was NKU's second straight, and the team's third in four matches. The Norse return to the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex on Thursday, hosting Wisconsin-Green Bay. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
