@NKUNorseWBB hosts IU East in Saturday night contest

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball hosts Indiana University East for a Saturday night contest inside BB&T Arena. Like all home games this season, the tilt with the Red Wolves will be carried on the ESPN3 platform with Brady Laber on play-by-play and Shane Duncan on color for the Norse. Fans can stream the game live on their computers, tablets and smartphones through WatchESPN or the ESPN App.

LAST TIME OUT: NKU opened up the home schedule by hosting Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday night, falling to the RedHawks in a 60-50 decision. Redshirt-senior forward Rebecca Lyttle led the team with her third career double-double, leading the Norse both in scoring (11) and rebounds (12). Head coach Camryn Whitaker said after the game that the goal was to get a little bit better every time the team steps on the court, and NKU showed definite improvement from the season opener at Indiana State. Three Norse scored in double figures, with freshman guard Laura Thomas adding 11 points while redshirt-senior guard Shar'Rae Davis chipped in 10 points, all in the second half. The Norse also upped their efficiency from the floor, shooting 40 percent compared to 25 percent against the Sycamores.

SCOUTING INDIANA UNIVERSITY EAST: The Red Wolves play in Division II of the NAIA and already have six games under their belt with a 4-2 overall record. IU East is led in scoring by junior guard Tia King, who is contributing 17.8 points per game, courtesy of a team-high 21 3-pointers at a .404 clip. Fellow junior guard Kristen Miller is also averaging double-digit figures for the Red Wolves at 11.2 ppg. The team spreads the wealth when it comes to rebounding, with most of the Red Wolves who see significant minutes averaging three rebounds or more, led by junior guard Bailey Dreiman with 6.8 boards a contest.

As a team, IU East ranks high in several statistical categories among NAIA Division II institutions. The Red Wolves rank 17th in 3-point percentage (.379) and 18th in assists per game (16.5), while also ranking in the top 25 in 3-pointers made per game (7.8) and total 3-pointers made (47).

The Norse have never faced Indiana University East in regular-season competition in the history of the two programs.
