Power picks up win in 6-1 loss at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. – Sophomore Sydney Power fought to a singles victory on Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback against Bradley at the Clubs at River City North.

Power defeated Bradley's Alexa Brandt in the No. 2 singles flight. The sophomore took the opening set, 7-5, and recovered from a set two defeat with a 10-4 victory in the tie-breaker.

At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Danielle Donahue and Klara Skopac recorded their third-straight win, topping Brandt and Ashley Tai, 7-6.

Sierra Nellessen took eight games off Malini Wijesinghe in a 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 5 singles.

Bradley (6-2) came away with victories at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles by default due to a shortage of NKU players.

Northern Kentucky (2-4, 0-1 Horizon League) returns to action Saturday, Feb. 20 when it takes on Tennessee State in the first home match of the season. The contest is set to begin at 4 p.m. at Five Seasons Sports Club where the NKU men's tennis team will also be taking on the Tigers.
