LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior Jody Maginley battled to a super tiebreaker at No. 2 singles to lead the Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team's efforts on Sunday evening as it fell to a tough Louisville squad, 7-0, at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center.

The super tiebreak snapped a three-match win streak for Maginley after taking the first set from Louisville's Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff, 6-4. Maginley fell in set two, 6-0, and dropped the tiebreaker, 10-6.

NKU put up a fight in all three doubles matches with Maginley and Nick Lang falling narrowly by a score of 7-5. Adrian Isache and Court Clark fell by one game, 7-6, at the No 3 flight.

The doubles team of Mate Virag and Lukas Clemens were just two games away from a possible victory against Jeffrey Brown and Alex Gornet, who entered the season ranked No. 5 in the Ohio Valley Region. But, with the doubles point already in the hands of the Cardinals, the match was abandoned with the score locked at 6-5.

In singles play, Clemens and Clark each took five games from their respective opponents. Clemens fell to George Hedley, 6-4, 6-1, while Clark fell to Jeffrey Brown 6-1, 6-4.

Isache dropped his opening set, 6-2, before bouncing back for a close 7-5 battle against UL's Brandon Lancaster in the No. 5 flight.

The loss moves NKU to 2-3 on the season while Louisville improves to 9-9. The Norse return to action on Friday, March 18 when they travel to take on Dayton at 7 p.m.
