HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team continues Horizon League play this weekend when they travel to Valparaiso and UIC.
NKU takes on the Crusaders at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Valparaiso Tennis Complex. The squad then turns around for an 11 a.m. match at UIC's Flames Tennis Courts.
The pair of matches this weekend wraps up a seven-match road swing for NKU.
The Norse sit at 5-7 this season and 0-2 in League play after falling to defending Horizon League champion Youngstown State and Cleveland State last weekend.
Nicole Soutar picked up a win over Morgan Nix of Cleveland State at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (3) and has won three of her last four matches.
Klara Skopac, who competes at top-flight singles, has a team-best 10 wins this year, including a 6-5 record this spring.
Additionally, the duo of Sydney Power and Sierra Nellessen posted a 6-4 win at Cleveland State at No. 3 singles and are 7-4 together this spring.
Valpo sits at 1-11 overall and 0-1 in League matches after falling to UIC. The Crusaders have seen success in doubles action this year with the top-flight team of Kathleen Hebble and Paige Heuer taking three of their last four matches.
UIC is 7-5 this season and 1-0 in the Horizon League. The Flames host Wright State on Saturday before taking on the Norse. Jackie Altansarnai is 10-11 overall and 5-7 in dual matches after competing at No. 1 singles. Meanwhile, Rachel Le Comber owns a 9-3 mark in dual matches, competing at No. 5 and 6 singles. Le Comber and doubles partner Oana Manole are 6-4 this spring at the top flight.
Following matches at Valpo and UIC, the Norse return home to host Oakland at 11 a.m. on April 9 at the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex.
