CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Senior Sierra Nellessen picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, taking a No. 6 singles victory in addition to a No. 2 doubles win with partner Sydney Power, but the Norse would ultimately fall to Dayton, 4-2, at Five Seasons Sports Club.
 
The loss is NKU's first of the season as the Norse dip to 1-1. Dayton improves to 1-1.
 
Match Notables

• On the doubles court, Power and Nellessen defeated Dayton's No. 2 doubles team of Natalie Allen and Alex Townsend, 6-4, to remain undefeated as a team this season. However, the Flyers came away with the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 for the early 1-0 advantage.
• Klara Skopac registered a No. 2 singles victory over Townsend, fighting for a 7-6 victory in set one before cruising to a 6-1 win in the second.
• Nellessen's singles victory came against UD's Mandy Marchant, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 6, as she opens the spring season with a 2-0 record in singles.
• Dayton's Natalie Allen clinched the Flyer victory at the No. 5 singles slot, defeating Danielle Donahue, 6-4, 6-4.
• Norse freshman Margita Sunjic was leading 2-0 in a tiebreaker against Marlys Bridgham in top-flight singles when the match was abandoned.
