MILWAUKEE – Northern Kentucky women's tennis fell in a 5-2 decision to Milwaukee in the Horizon League season opener on Saturday afternoon. The Norse dip to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in Horizon League action, while the Panthers advanced to 7-8 (1-0 HL).
Match Notables
- NKU's lone points came out of the top two singles matches.
- In No. 1 singles, freshman Margita Sunjic defeated Labina Petrovska, a 2016 All-League First Team honoree, in matching 6-3 sets to knot the score at 1-1 after the Norse dropped the doubles point to the Panthers.
- Klara Skopac also had a straight-set, 6-3, 6-3, victory over Eszter Zador in No. 2 singles.
- Sydney Power also took a set off her opponent, claiming a 6-1 first set over Hayley Marshall in the No. 5 slot. Marshall retaliated with a 6-2 win in the second and a 1-0(3) tiebreak.
- Both the men's and women's squads are in action tomorrow, March 26, at Green Bay. The men will take the court first at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET, with the women's match to follow at approximately 2 p.m. CT/3 p.m. ET.
