HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's women's tennis will make the short trip across the river to Cincinnati for a mid-week match with the Bearcats. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. from the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.
LAST TIME OUT: NKU split its weekend competition with a dominant 6-1 showing over Valparaiso before dropping a heartbreaking 4-3 match to UIC.
Margita Sunjic and
Klara Skopac showed solid play throughout the weekend, as the two did not drop a game in the top two singles spots or together as NKU's No. 1 doubles pair. Sunjic extended her straight-set winning streak to seven matches with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Valpo's Kathleen Hebble before a 6-4, 6-2 win against UIC's Oana Manole. Skopac took down Paige Heuer in the Valpo match, 6-2, 6-0, before a 6-0, 7-6(4) victory over UIC's Georgie Sanders on Sunday. Sunjic was honored for her match play on Tuesday, garnering her second-straight Horizon League Player of the Week accolade.
SCOUTING CINCINNATI: The Bearcats enter Tuesday riding a six-match winning streak and sit at 13-6 overall. Cincinnati has faced and defeated three opponents to which NKU suffered setbacks earlier this season, winning over respective conference champions Miami (Ohio) and Xavier in addition to a 6-1 victory over Rhode Island. NKU traveled to Cincinnati last season as well, with the Bearcats claiming a 4-0 win on April 13.
