BLOOMFIELD TWP., Mich. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis secured a 5-2 win on the road against Horizon League foe Oakland. With the win, NKU moves on to 6-10 overall and 3-4 in League play.
Match Notables
- Oakland claimed its points by way of the doubles point and a win in No. 3 singles.
- NKU's top doubles team of Klara Skopac and Margita Sunjic were able to start the day off with a win over Alexandra Whall and Amanda Nilsson, 6-3.
- Both Sunjic and Skopac went on to record straight-set wins in their singles matches.
- Sunjic had her eighth-consecutive straight-set victory in the No. 1 spot to remain undefeated in Horizon League action. She took down Allison Motea, 6-3, 6-0.
- Skopac extended upon a streak of her own with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Daria Artamonova in No. singles. She has now won her past four matches in straight sets.
- Danielle Donahue moved up to the No. 4 spot and battled it out with Samantha Galloway, winning each set but going extra games with 7-5 wins in both.
- In the No. 5 singles match, Katja Dijanezevic secured a 7-5 win over Amanda Nilsson before closing out the match in the second set, 6-2.
- Sierra Nellessen had a three-set win over Sofia Borcuti in the No. 6 slot, falling 6-2 in the opening set before rattling off 6-2 and 6-3 wins to take the match.
- NKU continues its road swing tomorrow when the Norse face Detroit Mercy at 1 p.m. ET.
