TJ Alas clubbed a trio of three-run home runs on Friday en route to posting nine RBI across a pair of games at Wright State. Alas led the Norse to a 13-10 comeback victory in game one before the Norse dropped game two, 13-3, at WSU's Nischwitz Stadium.
With the doubleheader split, NKU moves to 17-28 overall and 10-11 in the Horizon League. Wright State sits at 30-15 overall and 16-5 in conference play.
GAME ONE | Northern Kentucky 13, Wright State 10
Two of Alas' three-run homers came in game one. The Raiders took an early lead before the teams waged a back-and-forth battle between the sixth and eight innings.
At the Plate
- Alas had two three-run home runs in back-to-back at-bats as the outfielder posted six RBI in game one.
- Jake Richmond, Trey Ganns and Brad Bohlen had two RBI a piece as the trio each batted 2-for-4.
- Richmond scored three runs while both of Ganns' RBI came on a two-run home run.
- Will Haueter and Mike Moffatt had two hits in game one with both of Moffatt's being doubles.
- The Norse and Raiders were tied with 13 hits apiece.
On the Mound
- Cameron Ross (4-2) got the win for NKU after tossing the final 3.0 innings, giving up two runs on two hits. He walked three and fanned four.
- Starter Jean-Francois Dionne threw 5.1 innings followed by Joe Martin who picked up the final two outs in the sixth and faced the minimum.
Key Moments
- NKU trailed 3-0 through three innings. WSU managed a pair of early home runs in the first and a run-scoring triple in the third.
- Conor Ledger scored on an error following a Richmond single, then Haueter pushed Richmond across the plate on an RBI double to cut the WSU lead to 3-2 in the fifth.
- The Raiders added a run in their half of the fifth before NKU exploded for its seven-run sixth inning. NKU had six hits in the frame highlighted by a three-run homer from Alas and a two-run shot from Ganns to lead 9-4.
- Wright State countered with a four-run sixth in which it clubbed five hits and cut the NKU advantage to 9-8.
- A two-run single in the seventh briefly restored WSU's lead before Alas blasted his second three-run home run for a 12-10 Norse lead in the eighth. NKU closed out the win with an RBI single from Brad Bohlen in the top of the ninth.
GAME TWO | Wright State 13, Northern Kentucky 3
The Raiders took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two and never trailed en route to their victory in the nightcap.
At the Plate
- Alas knocked his third three-run home run late in game two to lead NKU at the plate.
- Roberts also added a 2-for-4 showing.
On the Mound
- Pat Kelley (3-3) absorbed the loss after throwing the first 2.0 innings in which he allowed five hits and four runs, three earned.
- Charlie Jerger contributed 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with two strikeouts and no walks.
- Joe Martin picked up one out in the fifth before Seth Rosenberg took over and threw 2.2 scoreless innings with one hit, no walks and four strikeouts.
- Brendan Alas made his second collegiate appearance on the mound and allowed two hits and four runs in the eighth.
Key Moments
- Wright State's 13 runs were split among four different innings. The Raiders led 4-0 through two innings, then posted a five-run fifth to put the game out of reach of the Norse.
- WSU scored its five runs off two hits and a Norse error in the fifth inning for their 9-0 lead.
- The Raiders added four runs on an RBI single and three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth.
- Alas drove in each of NKU's three runs in the top of the ninth.

- TJ Alas has a home run in five of the last six contests and has four multi-homer games this season. He is currently riding a 36-game on-base streak. In the last five games, Alas has two doubles, five home runs and 15 RBI. He now leads the Horizon League with a .791 slugging percentage in conference games and is tied for the League lead in total homers with 14.
- Moffatt has also seen success in the last five games, batting .421 (8-for-19) with three doubles.
