LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis dropped its second match of the season to Louisville, 7-0. The Norse drop to 0-2 while the Cardinals move to 4-0 on the season.
Match Notables
- Louisville took all three doubles matchups, but the Norse had a competitive showing in the No. 2 flight. Sydney Power and Katja Dijanezevic fell by a 6-4 count to Sena Suswam and Raven Neely.
- NKU kept its singles lineup the same, with Margita Sunjic appearing in the top spot. She fell, 6-0, 6-1, to Aleksandra Mally.
- Maria Koo dropped matching 6-2 sets to Mariana Humber in the No. 2 singles match.
- In the No. 3 match, Taylor Culbertson suffered a 6-2, 6-0 setback to Abbie Pahz.
- The No. 4 singles match between Sydney Power and Tiffany Huber and the No. 5 match between Hannah Watton and Raven Neely proved to be the most competitive of the contest. Power dropped the first set, 6-0, but rallied back to force an extra game in a 7-5 setback. Watton took Neely to extra games in the opening set, eventually falling 7-6(5) before Neely won the second set, 6-2.
- Alyssa DeFiglio rounded out the lineup in the No. 6 spot, falling 6-0, 6-1 to Maya Smith.
The Norse will return to Lexington, Kentucky, for their next match. However, NKU will play Arkansas State in a neutral territory match on Friday, Feb. 2. First serve is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET.
