CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis picked up its first win of the season with a dominating 6-1 win over Belmont. The Norse move to 1-3 overall, while the Bruins drop to 1-7.
Match Notables
- NKU started out the match strong with the doubles point. Katja Dijanezevic and Hannah Watton downed Sarah Brackin and Mical Johnson in the No. 3 match, 6-3, before Maria Koo and Margita Sunjic clinched the point with a 6-2 win over Maria Plaksina and Terra Sheldon in No. 2 doubles.
- Koo secured the first singles win with an expedient 6-2, 6-0 victory over Drew Hawkins in the No. 2 flight.
- Sunjic was not far behind with a straight-set win in the No. 1 match against Plaksina, easily winning the first set 6-0 before avoiding a third set, 7-5 in the second.
- Taylor Culbertson clinched the victory in No. 4 singles, taking down Brackin in matching 6-4 sets.
- Dijanezevic also added a win in singles, defeating Nikki Christiansen in the No. 3 singles matchup, 7-6, 6-1.
- Sydney Power, who moved up to the No. 3 singles spot, grabbed the final point of the match in a three-set winner over Erin Allen, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
NKU takes another sizable break until March 3 when the Norse take on cross-river foe Xavier on the road at 3 p.m.
