HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's men's and women's tennis will play a doubleheader against nearby opponent Xavier on Saturday, March 3. The women will take to the court first at 3:30 p.m., followed by the men's match at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The Norse women have been steadily improving on the season, starting off the year at Kentucky and Louisville before a close defeat at the hands of Arkansas State, 4-3, and recorded the first win of the season in a 6-1 showing against Belmont. NKU has had a consistent 1-2 punch in the top of the lineup with
Margita Sunjic and
Maria Koo, who, along with
Sydney Power, are looking to turn their two-straight singles wins into a three-match streak.
On the men's side, Jorge Rodriguez Agudo has been a consistent point-scorer in the No. 3 spot for the Norse, while Anthony Bosch is riding two-consecutive wins in the No. 6 spot. The men are coming off a weekend in Pittsburgh, where they fell to Duquesne before a competitive 4-3 setback to Saint Francis (Pa.).
The Musketeer women hold a 6-4 record and also have started BIG EAST play with a 2-0 mark. After winning against Penn and Georgetown, the Musketeers have the chance to string together a three-match winning streak for the second time this season.
Xavier's men sit at 1-7 this season, with the lone win coming against Northern Illinois. The Musketeers most recently took on Horizon League member Wright State on Feb. 25, falling 4-3 to the Raiders. The Norse will be Xavier's third-straight Horizon League opponent, as the Musketeers host Cleveland State tonight.
