@NKUNorseBSB makes the trip to Milwaukee this weekend

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team travels to Milwaukee this weekend for a Horizon League series. The series begins on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (3 p.m. CT). All of three games will feature live stats and live audio.

 LAST TIME OUT
Eastern Kentucky defeated NKU on Tuesday by a score of 12-9. The Norse won the earlier matchup of the teams on April 11 by a score of 14-6. In Tuesday's contest, Chad Roberts hit a two-run homer and Andrew Bacon added a solo home run. Roberts finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs. 
 
SCOUTING MILWAUKEE
The Panthers are 17-23 on the year and 9-9 in the Horizon League. Dylan Rybacki leads the team in batting average. He is hitting at a .341 clip on the season with 31 hits, 11 runs and seven RBIs. Trevor Schwecke is batting .297 this year with 32 runs scored and 27 RBIs. On the mound, the Panthers have a team ERA of 4.88. Austin Schulfer and Jake Sommers have each made 10 starts on the hill this season Schulfer is 4-5 on the year with an ERA of 3.56, while Sommers is 3-7 with an ERA of 5.57.
 
LAST MEETING
Milwaukee won the series in Highland Heights earlier this year. The teams split a doubleheader on Friday, April 6. The Panthers won the first game by a score of 8-4, and NKU won the second game, 8-4. The teams played for the series on Sunday, April 8, and Milwaukee came away with a 14-4 victory. 
 
BIG WIN IN MARCH
The Norse defeated No. 6 Kentucky earlier this season on March 7 by a final score of 8-6. It was NKU's second win over a ranked program since its move to Division I. The Norse also defeated UK on March 29, 2016. The Wildcats were ranked No. 12 in that matchup.
 
BOBBY FONG AWARD
The NKU baseball team was named the recipient of the Horizon League's Bobby Fong Award. The award encompasses the league's values of integrity, respect and stewardship and is presented to one current Horizon League student-athlete or team. The award is named for the late Dr. Bobby Fong, a former Butler University president who served on the Horizon League Board of Directors from 2001-2011. The NKU baseball team has historically been the leader of the athletic department in the area of community service and impact. The team participates in a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati areas. This is the second consecutive year that NKU has received the award, as former NKU women's soccer student-athlete Sami Rutowski was named the recipient of the award last year.
 
TAKING A LOOK AT THE STATS
Will Haueter leads the NKU baseball team in batting average (.361), slugging percentage (.626), on-base percentage (.463), and doubles (15). In the Horizon League, he ranks third in batting average, second in slugging percentage, first in on-base percentage and first in doubles. Haueter has 15 multi-hit games this season, and he has reached base in 21 consecutive contests. Haueter also has 42 doubles in his career, which puts him in a tie for ninth place in the NKU record book with Chris Helfer, Shannon McCormick and Steve Walton. 
Chad Roberts is batting .274 on the year and leads the team in home runs (11) and RBIs (40). He ranks second in the Horizon League in home runs and third in RBIs. Roberts has also recorded multiple RBIs in 12 games this season.
