HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Following a standout performance against one of the nation's stingiest defenses in Arkansas, Northern Kentucky's
Dantez Walton collected a second-straight Nike
® Horizon League Player of the Week accolade.
Walton poured in 30 points behind 10-for-14 shooting in the game, which included a 4-of-6 effort from beyond the arc. The Razorbacks entered the game with the country's best 3-point shooting defense, allowing only 14 percent from long range and holding all six previous opponents to three or fewer made treys. Walton alone surpassed that mark and helped NKU sink eight on the evening.
With 10 rebounds in the contest, Walton also became the only player in Division I basketball this season to record 30-point double-doubles twice. He did so in Northern Kentucky's matchup against Coppin State, tallying a career-high 33 points and 10 boards.
For good measure against Arkansas, Walton matched his career high in steals with four and set a new highwater mark in blocks, swatting four Razorback attempts.
Across the last four games against Division I opponents, Walton is averaging 26.3 points and 8.8 rebounds. Those figures balloon across the last two, soaring to 31.5 points and 10 boards.
NKU next plays at Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. (ET).
