SERIES HISTORY
This is the first meeting between the two teams.

TAKING A LOOK AT THE NORSE
The Norse are 0-3 to begin the year after dropping a series at Western Kentucky this past weekend. Freshman Noah Fisher had a nice debut for the Norse. He batted 6-of-12 (.500) this weekend with three runs, two RBI, a double and home run. Collin Luty also made his first appearance for the Norse this past weekend. Luty started at shortstop and went 4-of-12 (.333) with three runs scored and two RBI. Will Haueter, an All-Horizon League First Team performer last season, batted 4-of-13 (.308) with a run scored.

SCOUTING TENNESSEE
The Volunteers went 3-0 against Appalachian State this past weekend. The team won with scores of 6-0, 2-0, and 3-0. Evan Russell went 4-of-10 (.400) at the plate with two home runs, two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. Landon Gray and Luc Lipcius each finished the series batting 3-of-8 (.375). Tennessee is likely to start sophomore Sean Hunley on the mound. He was named to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Freshman All-American team last season, and he was also selected as the TSWA Pitcher of the Week on March 21, 2018. Hunley finished the 2018 season with a 7-3 record and a 2.64 ERA.

BIG WIN LAST SEASON
The Norse defeated No. 6 Kentucky last season on March 7, 2018, by a final score of 8-6. It was NKU's second win over a ranked program since its move to Division I. The Norse also defeated UK on March 29, 2016. The Wildcats were ranked No. 12 in that matchup.

BOBBY FONG AWARD
The NKU baseball team was named the recipient of the Horizon League's Bobby Fong Award in 2018. The award encompasses the league's values of integrity, respect and stewardship and is presented to one current Horizon League student-athlete or team. The award is named for the late Dr. Bobby Fong, a former Butler University president who served on the Horizon League Board of Directors from 2001-2011. The NKU baseball team has historically been the leader of the athletic department in the area of community service and impact. The team participates in a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati areas.

UP NEXT
The Norse head to Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend for a series against North Carolina A&T. The series begins on Friday, Feb. 22 with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
