HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky men's tennis will make the short trip to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on the Louisville Cardinals at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21. The Cardinals earned a spot in the ITA's top-50 this week, moving into the No. 44 spot in the nation after previously being unranked.
The Norse are coming off a dominant 7-0 win over Thomas More, with each NKU's singles players winning in straight sets. NKU's top doubles team of
Aleksander Sadal and
Jorge Rodriguez Agudo moved to 3-2 as a pairing with a 6-0 win over TMU's top tandem, and the two other Norse duos also picked up victories against their opponents.
Louisville enters Thursday at 9-3 overall and have won all five matches at home. The middle of the Cardinals' lineup has been successful with Sergio Ramirez and Federico Gomez combining for a 17-2 record primarily out of the No. 3 and 4 spots. Brandon Lancaster and Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff have both picked up wins in the No. 1 spot for the Cardinals. In doubles, Morin-Kougoucheff and Fabien Salle have gone 5-3 to pick up the most wins on the team, including a 4-3 mark atop the lineup.
NKU and Louisville last squared off on March 13, 2016, when the Cardinals claimed a 7-0 victory over the Norse.
