LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis played its second Power Five opponent of the season, falling 7-0 at No. 44 Louisville. The Norse move to 1-5 on the season, while the Cardinals advance to 10-3.
Match Notables
- Louisville claimed the opening point with wins in No. 1 and 3 doubles. The Norse competed well in No. 2 doubles as Blaine Carr and Nathan Schwartz trailed Federico Gomez and Fabien Salle by a slim 5-4 margin when the set was abandoned.
- The Cardinals clinched the match with wins in the middle of the lineup, first with No. 5 singles followed by No. 3 and 4 singles.
- Schwartz won the only set of the day for the Norse as he fell 6-2 in the opening set to Salle in No. 2 singles but bounced back for a 6-4 win in the second set. Salle went on to win the tiebreak, 1-0(4).
NKU will take little time to rest as the Norse are back at Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, on Saturday, Feb. 23. The Norse will host Eastern Illinois with first serve scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
