HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team is set to face North Carolina A&T on Sunday, Feb. 24 in Emerson, Georgia. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.

TAKING A LOOK AT THE NORSE
The Norse are 0-4 on the year. NKU most recently fell to Tennessee on Tuesday. Freshman
Noah Fisher has gotten off to a hot start in his first collegiate season. Fisher is 8-of-16 (.500) at the plate this season with three runs, two RBI, a double and a home run.
Andrew Bacon is hitting 4-of-13 for a .308 clip. He has two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI.
Griffin Doersching leads the team in RBI with four.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA A&T
North Carolina A&T is 3-1 on the season. The Aggies began the year with a sweep of Niagara, before falling to No. 6 North Carolina by a final score of 2-1. The Aggies were up 1-0 until the seventh inning, when the Tar Heels scored two runs in the bottom half of the frame to get the victory.
North Carolina A&T was led at the plate in that game by Brandon Melendez and AJ Hunt. Melendez went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Hunt went 1-for-2 with a RBI and two walks.
Hunt is batting 6-for-14 (.429) on the year with three runs scored, six RBI, and a grand slam. On the mound, the Aggies have allowed just seven runs in four games. Tim Luth started the first game of the season for the team, giving up two runs on eight hits in five innings of work. Evan Gates earned a win on the mound against Niagara in the team's second game of the year, and Micahel Johnson fired six scoreless innings to help the team complete the sweep over Niagara.
Last season, North Carolina A&T qualified for the NCAA Tournament by winning the MEAC Tournament. The Aggies played in the Chapel Hill Regional and fell to North Carolina and Purdue.
BIG WIN LAST SEASON
The Norse defeated No. 6 Kentucky last season on March 7, 2018, by a final score of 8-6. It was NKU's second win over a ranked program since its move to Division I. The Norse also defeated UK on March 29, 2016. The Wildcats were ranked No. 12 in that matchup.
BOBBY FONG AWARD
The NKU baseball team was named the recipient of the Horizon League's Bobby Fong Award in 2018. The award encompasses the league's values of integrity, respect and stewardship and is presented to one current Horizon League student-athlete or team. The award is named for the late Dr. Bobby Fong, a former Butler University president who served on the Horizon League Board of Directors from 2001-2011. The NKU baseball team has historically been the leader of the athletic department in the area of community service and impact. The team participates in a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati areas.
