CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis improved to 4-4 after a three-and-a-half-hour match against Western Kentucky, 6-1, with three of the singles matches going three sets. The Hilltoppers fall to 0-8.
Match Notables
- The Norse won the doubles point with a win by default in No. 3 doubles followed by a 6-4 win from Elizabeth Rozin and Margita Sunjic over Lucia Diaz Saez and Judit Gonzalez Agud in No. 2 doubles.
- NKU surrendered a point to WKU as the No. 6 match was won by walkover.
- Sunjic and Rozin put the Norse ahead, 3-1, with a pair of straight-set wins in No. 1 and 4 singles. Sunjic first defeated Laura Bernardos in the top flight in matching 6-3 sets before Rozin handily downed Gonzalez Agud in set one, 6-1, before fending off a third set with a 7-6(9) second set.
- Maria Koo clinched the match in three sets over Lisa Friess in No. 2 singles. Koo won the first set, 6-1, but fell in the second, 6-4. She answered back with a 6-4 set win of her own to claim her point.
- Taylor Culbertson followed that up with a three set win over Diaz Saez in No. 3 singles, dropping the first set, 5-7, before rattling off 6-2, 6-4 victories.
- Katja Dijanezevic wrapped up the match in No. 5 singles against Zeniece Charles-Hall. She won the first set, 7-6, and similar to Koo, dropped a 6-4 second set before winning the third, 6-4.
The Norse will take a brief break before hosting cross-river foe Xavier on Friday, March 8. First serve against the Musketeers is set for 7 p.m. ET from Five Seasons Sports Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
