INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League announced on Monday, Feb. 25, that Northern Kentucky women's basketball rookie Taylor Clos has been named the Nike® Horizon League Freshman of the Week. It marks the first award of Clos' collegiate career, and she joins Ally Niece as a recipient of the award after she earned the distinction on Jan. 7.
 
Clos led the Norse in scoring over the weekend as NKU went 2-0 and finished its home slate on a six-game winning streak. She averaged 15.5 points per game, shooting .385 from the field and .500 from 3-point range, going 7-of-14 from beyond the arc. Clos also averaged 3.0 assists per game with just one turnover between the two contests, along with 2.0 rebounds and a pair of steals, and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. In NKU's upset of Youngstown State, Clos posted 14 points and dished out a pair of assists with no errors. She followed it up with a game-high 17 points versus Cleveland State, tying her career high of five made triples while adding four more assists.
 
"Taylor has been putting up extra shots every day after practice to gain more confidence in her shooting, so to see her come out the past two games and shoot so well is no surprise to me," explained head coach Camryn Whitaker. "Her teammates are constantly looking for her on the court and encouraging her to shoot when she's open. I'm happy to see it all come together this week for Taylor!"
 
The Norse wrap up the Horizon League regular season on the road, first heading to Oakland for a 4 p.m. tip-off on Thursday, Feb. 28. NKU then heads to Detroit Mercy on Saturday, March 2, for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
