SERIES HISTORY
OSU has a 3-1 lead in the all-time series. However, the Norse picked up an 8-1 win in the last meeting on April 19, 2017.

TAKING A LOOK AT THE NORSE
NKU picked up a series sweep over Youngstown State this past weekend to move to 4-12 on the year and 3-0 in the Horizon League. Andrew Bacon went 6-for-11 in the YSU series with a home run, six RBI and three runs scored. Joe Martin didn't allow an earned run over 5.0 innings on the mound. He picked up a save on Friday and got the win on the mound Saturday.

Bacon was named the Horizon League Batter of the Week, and Martin earned Horizon League Pitcher of the week honors for their efforts this past weekend.

In Sunday's contest against the Penguins, Collin Luty hit a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth. Later in the inning, NKU loaded the bases, and Griffin Doersching was hit by a pitch to allow Billy Marion to score the game-winning run.

Bacon leads the team with a .315 batting average, and freshman Sam Hedges is hitting .300 on the season. Doersching has 13 RBI this year, which is the top mark on the team.

Proctor Mercer is likely to get the start on the mound tomorrow. The freshman has made three starts in four appearances. In 11.2 innings pitched, he has struck out nine batters.

SCOUTING OHIO STATE
The Buckeyes enter the contest at 9-10 overall. OSU most recently picked up two wins in a three-game series against Lipscomb this past weekend. Among qualified hitters, Brady Cherry leads the team with a .362 average. He has six doubles, four home runs, 15 runs scored and 14 RBI on the season. Dominic Canzone has also been productive at the plate this season. He is batting .294 on the year with four home runs, 20 runs scored and 15 RBI.

Jake Vance is the probable starter on the mound for Tuesday's contest. He has made four starts on the year and sports a 3.72 ERA. In 19.1 innings pitch, he has struck out 13 batters.

BOBBY FONG AWARD
The NKU baseball team was named the recipient of the Horizon League's Bobby Fong Award in 2018. The award encompasses the league's values of integrity, respect and stewardship and is presented to one current Horizon League student-athlete or team. The award is named for the late Dr. Bobby Fong, a former Butler University president who served on the Horizon League Board of Directors from 2001-2011. The NKU baseball team has historically been the leader of the athletic department in the area of community service and impact. The team participates in a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati areas.
