CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis fell to preseason Horizon League favorite UIC on Saturday evening, 6-1. The Norse drop to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in league play while the Flames advance to 12-4 (3-0 Horizon).
Match Notables
- The Flames claimed the opening point with a pair of 6-1 victories in No. 2 and 3 doubles.
- UIC posted wins on courts 6, 3, and 4 to clinch the win, with straight-set victories on each court.
- UIC added a win in No. 5 singles before Maria Koo recorded NKU's lone point of the match. Koo won in a pair of 6-4 sets over Karyna Bihel in No. 2 singles, trailing 4-0 in the opening set before rattling of six-straight games and fell behind 2-0 in the second set before ultimately winning over her opponent.
- Margita Sunjic suffered a three-set loss to Lejla in the top flight, winning an extended first set, 7-6, before dropping the second, 6-3. Colic went on to win the deciding pro set, 1-0(4).
NKU will play a midweek match at cross-river foe Cincinnati on Wednesday, April 3. First serve against the Bearcats is set for 3 p.m. ET.
