Jalen Tate hauls in final Nike® Horizon League Player of the Week accolade

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Following a pair of sensational performances on the road in the Badger State last weekend, Northern Kentucky's Jalen Tate was named the Nike® Horizon League Player of the Week Monday afternoon. This is Tate's first Horizon League Player of the Week honor of his career.

Tate's weekend began with an 8-for-12 shooting performance at Milwaukee that resulted in 18 points. He also pulled down seven rebounds, while distributing three assists without turning the ball over.

The native of Pickerington, Ohio, followed with a career effort at Green Bay, helping Northern Kentucky clinch a share of the Horizon League Regular-Season Championship, the team's second in a row. Against the Phoenix Tate dropped a career-high 30 points, converting 11-of-19 field goals, 4-of-5 three-pointers and 4-of-4 free throws. He added six assists and four boards to the cause as well.

Tate finished the weekend averaging 24 points behind 61 percent shooting (19-for-31), including 71 percent (5-of-7) from 3-point territory. The redshirt-sophomore guard also averaged 5.5 rpg and 4.5 apg.

In addition to a second-straight league title, Northern Kentucky finished at 23-8 overall, its third-straight 20-win season. The Norse went 13-5 in Horizon League play and host Detroit Mercy in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Tournament. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on March 6. Tickets are available for the contest through Ticketmaster.
