HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's women's tennis will host cross-river opponent Xavier in the team's final tune-up before the Horizon League slate on Friday, March 8. First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET at Five Seasons Sports Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Norse have won three of their last four matches, most recently a 6-1 victory over in-state foe Western Kentucky.
Margita Sunjic continues to lead the Norse lineup, boasting a 6-2 record with losses coming against Power Five opponents Louisville and No. 23 Kentucky.
Elizabeth Rozin has a 5-1 singles record for the Norse, including 3-0 at the No. 4 singles spot. In doubles action,
Maria Koo and
Taylor Culbertson have a 4-3 record atop the doubles lineup, while the Norse have had nine different pairings between the No. 2 and 3 spots.
Xavier boasts a 9-2 record, with losses to Iowa and Michigan State. Ahmeir Kyle has spent the most time at the No. 1 singles spot, amassing a 4-3 mark, while Sophia Abelson and Emily Thomas have also picked up wins at the top of the lineup and Abelson enters the weekend on a six-match winning streak. The Musketeers are strong at the bottom of the singles lineup as well, going a combined 15-5 out of the No. 5 and 6 players with Kaitlin Ruether riding a seven-match winning streak with appearances in both spots. In doubles play, Ableson and Ruether have been dominant as a tandem with a 7-1 record, mostly out of the No. 2 doubles spot. The pair lost their first match of the season but has rattled off seven-straight wins since then.
The two teams last met on March 3, 2018, when the Musketeers claimed a 7-0 victory over the Norse.
