@NKUNorseWBB unveils Horizon League schedule

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's women's basketball announces its 18-game Horizon League schedule for the 2019-20 season following its release by the league office.
 
Horizon League Highlights
  • Following the nonconference finale against Wofford on Friday, Dec. 20, the Norse hit the road to open up league play in the Badger State. NKU kicks things off at perennial league power Green Bay on Saturday, Dec. 28, before closing out 2019 at Milwaukee on Monday, Dec. 30.
  • Northern Kentucky rings in the New Year with a pair of home contests, hosting Youngstown State in the Horizon League home opener on Thursday, Jan. 2. NKU returns to BB&T Arena on Saturday, Jan. 4, for a tilt with Cleveland State.
  • The Norse take to the road again the following week, facing IUPUI on Thursday, Jan. 9, before a Saturday, Jan. 11, contest at UIC.
  • NKU hosts the defending regular-season and tournament champion, Wright State, on Friday, Jan. 17, to kick off a five-game homestand. The following week, the Norse host Oakland on Thursday, Jan. 23, and Detroit Mercy on Saturday, Jan. 25. The league slate circles back around on Thursday, Jan. 30, as the Norse face Milwaukee for the second time before a Saturday, Feb. 1, game against Green Bay.
  • The team is back on the road on Thursday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 8, heading to Cleveland State and Youngstown State, respectively.
  • NKU returns to BB&T Arena for the final home contests of the regular season, hosting UIC on Thursday, Feb. 13, before Senior Day against IUPUI on Saturday, Feb. 15.
  • The Norse play the final three games on the road, first making a trip to Wright State on Thursday, Feb. 20. NKU ends the regular season in Michigan, starting off with Detroit Mercy on Thursday, Feb. 27, and ending at Oakland on Saturday, Feb. 29.
  • The Horizon League Championship begins at campus sites on March 3. Teams seeded third through sixth will host first-round matchups, with the top-two seeds hosting quarterfinals on March 5. The semifinals and championship will then be held at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis from March 9-10.
 
Norse Notes
  • Northern Kentucky had its highest conference finish since transitioning to Division I last season, posting a 10-8 mark in Horizon League play to tie for fifth.
  • The Norse ended the 2018-19 home schedule with a six-game winning streak.
  • Ally Niece was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team, ranking in the top-10 among all league players in scoring, assists, 3-point field goal percentage, free throw percentage and minutes played.
  • NKU welcomes Lester Rowe to the coaching staff for the 2019-20 campaign. Rowe previously spent eight seasons on the bench at West Virginia.
  • The Norse freshman class features Carissa Garcia, Tayah Irvin and Ivy Turner. NKU also added a transfer with NJCAA All-American Janna Lewis.
