HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's women's tennis will head to Cincinnati to take on cross-river opponent Xavier on Friday, January 31. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
The Norse have won two of their three matches, most recently a 6-1 victory over in-state foe Western Kentucky.
Hannah Watton clinched the win in her 6-4, 6-1 two-set No. 6 singles match. Five Norse have gone 2-1 in singles play, with many of those losses coming in their 5-2 defeat at Kentucky.
Xavier is coming off a historical season, going 22-3 and undefeated at home in 2019. The Musketeers hold a 1-2 record on the 2020 season. Their first loss opened up the season, coming at Purdue. They lost their second match the next day to Mississippi State, marking their first loss at home since the 2017-2018 campaign. The Musketeers' solo win came against Dayton, posting a 6-1 victory, like the Norse. Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas' doubles team qualified for the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in November, but have gone just 1-2 in the spring season.
The two teams last met on March 8, 2019, when the Musketeers claimed a 6-1 victory over the Norse.
