INDIANAPOLIS – One week after being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the second-straight season, Northern Kentucky women's basketball junior
Kailey Coffey also earned a spot on the Horizon League All-Academic Team for the second-consecutive year. She is one of five student-athletes to receive the distinction.
In order to be selected to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests and have completed a year at the member school in addition to holding at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. Coffey easily meets the requirements, as she holds a flawless 4.00 GPA in chemistry & biochemistry.
In addition to her exceptional performance in the classroom, Coffey has also been a key asset to NKU's success on the court. The junior leads NKU with 7.8 rebounds per game and is ranked sixth in league matchups at 8.1 caroms a contest. She has had eight double-digit rebounding efforts this season, leading the Norse on the board 17 times. Additionally, she has been a force on defense, leading NKU in blocks seven times and in steals five times, and guards positions 1-5, often lining up with the opponent's top scorer.
The Norse return to the floor this evening, taking on Detroit Mercy on the road at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
