ORLANDO, Fla. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis won its third match in as many days, defeating Belmont in a 4-3 decision. The Norse move to 6-3 on the season while the Bruins drop to 5-5.
Match Notables
- Belmont used wins in No. 1 and 3 doubles to take the opening point.
- Margita Sunjic tied the contest up with a win at the top of the singles lineup, defeating Somer Henry in matching 6-2 sets.
- The Norse then took a one-point advantage following Ananya Kothakota's victory over Drew Hawkins in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
- Belmont took the next point as Katja Dijanezevic fell in three in No. 5 singles, 3-6, 6-0, 1-0(8), before Maria Koo put the Norse back on top out of the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-4 over Peyton Lee.
- The Bruins took the No. 6 singles match to knot the score up again for the final time before Elizabeth Rozin provided the winning point for the Norse in No. 3 singles. She dropped a tight first set to Erin Allen, 7-6, before pushing a third with a decisive 6-1 second-set win. Rozin then fought off three match points in the match tie break before winning it, 14-12.
- Koo and Rozin are now on three-match winning streaks in singles play.
The Norse return home with a quick turnaround, hosting Saint Francis (Pa.) on Friday March 13. First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET from Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
