HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – NKU men's basketball assistant coach Eric Haut has been named one of the top-five assistant coaches in the Horizon League by Stadium.
"Eric is a tireless worker that has all the attributes of an elite assistant coach that is ready to become a head coach," says head men's basketball coach Darrin Horn. "He is an outstanding teacher that excels in player development. He has been invaluable in our game prep and in-game coaching, and he has a proven track record of good recruiting evaluations and signing players."
Haut joined the Norse as an assistant coach in May 2019. In his first season with the Norse, Northern Kentucky continued its run of success, finishing the 2019-20 campaign with a 23-9 record and a 13-5 mark in Horizon League action. NKU then won the 2020 Horizon League Tournament and qualified for its third NCAA Tournament in the last four years.
Prior to coming to Highland Heights, Haut most recently served as the associate head coach at Kent State from 2016-19. Following a storied playing career for Kent State that resulted in an NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 2002 and NCAA Second Round effort in 2001, Haut's coaching career began as a graduate assistant on Horn's staff at Western Kentucky.
During his time at Kent State, as either a player or coach, Haut led the Golden Flashes to five of the program's six NCAA Tournament appearances. He graduated from Kent State in 2004 with a degree in finance.
