HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Horizon League office announced Monday afternoon that Northern Kentucky's
Lindsey Duvall was honored as one of the Nike® Horizon League Women's Basketball Players of the Week.
"Lindsey is a fierce competitor who loves to win," said head coach Camryn Whitaker. "She is always in the gym working to improve her game and plays with so much passion. We are fortunate she chose NKU and I couldn't be more proud of her!"
Duvall, a senior guard from Mt. Washington, Kentucky, posted another fantastic week for the Norse, helping Northern Kentucky to a 2-0 week with wins over Kentucky State and Saint Louis University. During the midweek matchup for NKU, Duvall posted 12 total points in 20 overall minutes in the 72-51 win over the Thorobreds. She went a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line along with adding four rebounds and two assists to her stat sheet.
Saturday's game against Atlantic-10 opponent Saint Louis was where Duvall showed off her incredible skills on the court, totaling 29 points in the 80-69 road victory. In 38 overall minutes Lindsey shot 9-for-20 from the floor, and was 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. She went a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe as well. Duvall notched a double-double in this game with 14 total rebounds. She also added two assists, committed only one foul, posted a +/- of 15 and led NKU in fouls drawn with five.
Duvall finished the week a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line, and shot 43 percent overall from the field. Duvall posted her fifth 20-plus point game of the season, tied her career-high in points (29), which she last hit a year ago against Robert Morris on Feb. 25, 2021, and tied her career-high in rebounds in this game at 14 which she totaled last season against RMU as well. Her double-digit scoring efforts in both games also saw her streak of scoring in double-figures in a Norse uniform up to 29 total games now.
This is the second Horizon League Player of the Week selection for Northern Kentucky this season, as
Ivy Turner received the honor for the week of Nov. 20-28.
Northern Kentucky returns to action next on Monday, Dec. 20 as the Norse will travel south to Spartanburg, South Carolina to take on Wofford at 6 p.m.
